Norman Ridge Farmstead

Farming began on Norman Ridge in the 1800’s with a collection of small family homesteads. In the 1940’s, the Norman family began consolidating neighboring properties and grew potatoes and vegetables on this land for nearly 50 years. In 1994 the Norman family sold the 500-acre farm property to locals Ron and Beth Edgley, who were established seed potato growers from nearby Lake Placid. Edgley Farms produced New York certified seed potatoes and other crops in rotation until 2012 when the decision was made to convert the cropland to hay fields and pasture. The Edgley family has been grazing animals on the land every summer since. Chris and Holli are happy to be playing their own small part in the farming history of Norman Ridge.
